At the American Brain Tumor Association, progress begins with people who believe a better future is possible.
That belief takes many forms. It is found in the families who share their stories, the volunteers who give their time, the researchers pursuing new ideas, and the supporters who make thoughtful decisions today that can strengthen the brain tumor community for years to come.
This month, as we recognize National Make-a-Will Month, we are reminded that planning for the future can be one meaningful way to reflect the people, priorities, and causes that matter most to us. It is also a reminder of what becomes possible when people choose to invest in what comes next.
We see that impact through ABTA-funded research. In 2020, an ABTA Discovery Grant helped Dr. Gary Kohanbash pursue a promising approach to improving the effectiveness of immunotherapy against glioblastoma. That early investment helped move the research from an idea in the laboratory toward a clinical trial for patients.
It is why we continue to invest in early-stage discoveries that may otherwise struggle to secure funding. With the right support, an idea can grow into a study, a study can lead to a clinical trial, and a clinical trial can create new possibilities for patients and families.
To our community: you are the heartbeat of the ABTA. Your stories, support, and belief in what’s possible move our mission forward. Together, we will keep working toward what everyone facing a brain tumor deserves: more time, more options, and more hope.
