Did you know that ABTA-funded research continues to advance some of the most promising areas in neuro-oncology, including: immunotherapy, biomarkers, proteomics, epigenetics, radiation therapy, and experimental therapeutics? Our investments also support research across a range of brain tumor types, including glioblastoma, malignant glioma, medulloblastoma, diffuse midline gliomas, and metastatic brain tumors.
How Its Done
Collaboration remains one of the most effective ways to maximize research impact. Through the Brain Tumor Funders Collaborative (BTFC), the ABTA works alongside other philanthropic and advocacy organizations to jointly fund innovative research that advances the field. By combining resources and expertise, the collaborative helps support high-impact projects that might not otherwise receive funding, accelerating progress for patients and families affected by brain tumors.
Building on this momentum, the ABTA continues to deepen its investment in metastatic brain tumor research through the Metastatic Brain Tumor Collaborative (MBTC). In 2025, the collaborative supported innovative projects aimed at advancing the diagnosis, treatment, and understanding of central nervous system metastases. Beyond these targeted efforts, the ABTA Flexible Research Fund provides critical support to address emerging research needs, while continued investment in the next generation of researchers included 10 Discovery Grants, five Basic Research Fellowships, and 11 Medical Student Summer Fellowships.
Beyond funding research, the ABTA is helping to strengthen the future of the field through its Alumni Research Network (AARN), a burgeoning group of past and current researchers that continues to drive collaboration and scientific progress. Members of the network have contributed to published research and play an active role in shaping the future of the field, including serving as grant reviewers to help identify and support emerging research opportunities.
