My Meningioma Journey: Finding Hope and Purpose During the Pandemic

Lynn Wynn meningioma patient

by Lynn Wynn

When the pandemic began in 2020, my life changed in ways I could have never imagined. I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor on the left side of my brain, and the news left me numb. The tumor caused facial paralysis and left me deaf in one ear, drastically altering my life. The timing couldn’t have been worse—our city was in lockdown, and everything seemed to come to a halt.

The pandemic restrictions made accessing medical care more challenging, but I was able to get an MRI, which confirmed the diagnosis. The days that followed were some of the darkest I’ve ever faced. Coping with the physical changes, along with the isolation brought on by the lockdown, was overwhelming.

Despite the challenges, I began to find purpose in sharing my story and leaning on my faith. I underwent treatment at a proton therapy center, an experience so impactful that I later participated in a commercial for the center to raise awareness about its life-changing work.

Writing also became an outlet for healing. I authored a book titled Time After Time: Time Waits for No One, but God’s Time Is Perfect. Through the pages of my book, I reflect on the hardships I faced and the lessons I’ve learned. It’s a message of resilience and faith that I hope inspires others going through tough times.

Although I still feel the effects of my diagnosis and treatment, I’ve come to understand that every challenge has a purpose. My journey has taught me the importance of trusting in God’s timing and finding light even in the darkest moments.

If you or someone you love is navigating life with a brain tumor, know that you’re not alone. Sharing your story, seeking support, and staying hopeful can make all the difference.
