The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) is proud to announce more than $1.3 million in funding for 30 new research projects to help drive the next wave of discoveries in brain tumor science and care.

This year’s investment comes at a critical moment, as proposed federal budget cuts threaten national research funding. “While we’ve seen important progress in brain cancer research, the brain tumor community still needs more effective ways to monitor and treat this disease,” said Kelly Sitkin, ABTA president and CEO. “That’s why we remain deeply committed to funding innovative research—just as we have since our founding more than 50 years ago.”

These new grants cover several different tumor types and different areas of research, from immunotherapy to epigenetics and biomarkers.

The ABTA funds researchers across all levels of their careers, from early-career scientists just starting out to established experts leading groundbreaking investigations.

This year’s research awards were made possible thanks to the generous support of ABTA donors and partner organizations. Because of this support, researchers can pursue bold ideas that brings new hope to patients and families.

The ABTA’s 2025 research investment also includes grants awarded in partnereship with several other non-profit organizations through the Brain Tumor Funders’ Collaborative and the Metastatic Brain Tumor Collaborative.

The ABTA is now accepting applications for 2026 Discovery Grants, Basic Research Fellowships, Jack and Fay Netchin Medical Student Summer Fellowships, and Research Collaboration Grants
