...are naturally occurring proteins that promote cell growth. They are normally produced by healthy cells, as they are needed, for tissue growth and wound healing. Tumors, produce too many growth factors and lose their ability to stop manufacturing these proteins. Manipulating growth factors, or their receptors, and the effects of doing so is focus of much ABTA-funded research.
