The State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP)

The State ChildrenÕs Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) is a combined federal and state program that provides health insurance for children whose familyÕs income is too high to qualify for Medicaid, but too low to afford private insurance. It is directed at children 18 years of age or younger, who currently have no coverage and whose parent(s) are working. There are SCHIP plans in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
