She was just 11 years old when she learned how a brain tumor could impact her life and that of her family. But, time and again, Jenny rose to the challenge and now lives by her life motto, “brain cancer doesn’t define who you are, it just makes you stronger.”
He was the first in his family to finish college, among uncles and cousins who were hard-working coal miners and car mechanics. By the end of kindergarten, he decided to be a scientist. By 10th grade, medical doctor was his chosen profession. By the time he went to college, Craig Horbinski wanted to study neuroscience and become both a doctor and a scientist.
This year’s slate of research projects investigates critical areas in neuro-oncology, including immune cells and the non-cancerous tissue that surrounds brain tumors to understand the impact on tumor progression. The ABTA’s grant program plays an integral role in advancing the understanding and treatment of brain tumors
