Your Way to Support Brain Tumor Research and Patient Programs
A snowmobile race. Music festivals. Bowling tournaments. A wedding. A graduation. What do these events all have in common? These are some of the creative outlets volunteers have fundraised for the ABTA. For more than 40 years, volunteers have donated nearly $5 million through the ABTA’s Fundraise Your Way program in their quest to support our vision of finding a cure for brain tumors.
Your Passion, Your Creativity Are Welcome
Following your passion, being creative and claiming ownership of the event is the heart of the Fundraise Your Way program. And the ABTA can help make it easy for any volunteer to get started by offering simple tools to be effective.
There are three ways to individualize your fundraising:
- Host Your Own program is a grassroots approach to fundraising, allowing volunteers to organize their own unique event in their communities. The ABTA can support volunteers in a variety of ways, including marketing resources, promotional giveaway items and an ABTA staff member to provide consultation and program support.
- Celebrate a Milestone is an easy way to highlight a major accomplishment or special occasion – a wedding, birthday, anniversary, graduation, a holiday and more. Fundraisers can create their own webpage with a personalized link and share it with friends and family who can join the celebration by donating to the ABTA.
- Create a Tribute Page allow families and friends to remember a loved one with a special show of care and admiration through an online presence. This page can be personalized with a story and photo, then shared with others who can chose to donate to the ABTA in honor of your loved one.
This program started from a cacophony of volunteers voicing their wish to give back in a way that fostered a personal connection to themselves and their loved ones.
In this edition of MindMatters, three fundraisers showcase how they support the ABTA through their own efforts – some have fundraised in unique ways for more than a decade.
