6 Friends Cycle Their Way to Raising over $20,000 for Brain Tumor Research

Team GuestDriver, comprised of team members Mike Grunnet, Doug Grunnet, Bill Easom, Chris Shepard, Craig Petersen, and Pat O’Connor all participated in the Register’s 47th Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa. A bicycle ride attracting 15,000 participants each year, this event is the oldest, largest, and longest bicycle touring event in the world. With past RAGBRAI experience under their belts, Team GuestDriver was more than ready to take on the 5-day, 300-mile ride.

In the past, Team GuestDriver rode to benefit local Iowa charities. However, this year’s ride had special meaning for the team –they rode in honor of their 2017 team member, Sarah, who was diagnosed with GBM in 2018. Fueled with extra motivation and desire, the team decided to utilize the event as an opportunity to raise research money for the American Brain Tumor Association, in support of Sarah and her courageous spirit. With the combined effort of the six team members and many supporters, Team GuestDriver raised $23,750 for brain tumor research.

On behalf of the American Brain Tumor Association, we would like to both congratulate and extend our thanks to Team GuestDriver for supporting our mission by funding research and patient support services.
