About Our Information-Gathering Practices
The American Brain Tumor Association does not sell, share or trade or patient, family or donor names or personal information with any other entity.

Regardless of whether you contact us by phone, e-mail, or register at our web site, your name will not be shared with others outside of ABTA and its authorized agents. Exceptions to this policy include your approval or request to share your information, legal processes, or when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect you or our rights as required by law. This includes, but is not limited to, mailing addresses, telephone or fax numbers, and e-mail addresses.

We collect an Internet Protocol (IP) address from all visitors and donors to our site.

An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our site, analyze trends, track users' movement, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for us to improve the site, and deliver customized, personalized content.

How we use your contact information.

We use visitor and donor information to send updates about ABTA activities, brain tumor research, fundraising information, and notification of brain tumor-related events and information that may be of interest to you. At any time you may choose not to receive these mailings. Instructions for stopping e-mail notices are included in each of our messages or you can call us at 800-886-2282 and we will promptly honor your request. Registered users of our web site are able to opt-out of these mailings at the time they register, and can change that choice online at any time.

Donations made at our web site using our online donation form and other forms transmitted through our website are secure.

Donations to the American Brain Tumor Association are transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. We also protect account information by placing it on a secure portion of our Site that is only accessible by certain qualified employees of the American Brain Tumor Association. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.

Do not send personal information via e-mail.

E-mail by its very nature is not secure. Please do not send us any personal information in your e-mail that you would be uncomfortable sharing with others. Know that e-mail can be intercepted and that a copy of your message may be stored on the computer you are using.

About the links and resources at our site.

Several sections of our site link to other places on the Internet. We believe the information or services at these sites are of significant interest to brain tumor patients, families, the neuro-oncology community, and our donors. If you have concerns about their privacy policies or questions about their security, please contact those providers directly. We do not assume responsibility for the practices or content of any web site which links to, or from, our site.

We do not accept banner advertisements at our site.

ABTA does not accept paid advertising. However, unrestricted educational grants in support of our web site, patient and family programs or sponsorship of ABTA events is important. This support enables us to earmark the majority of ABTA funds for brain tumor research and patient and family programming. Grantors and event sponsors will be clearly labeled as such, and their acknowledgment may be accompanied by a logo linked back to their web site. Please note that grantors and sponsors do not have the ability to influence ABTA content.

Non-endorsement policies

Logo use:  It is the policy of the ABTA that our logo be restricted to ABTA-sponsored events and initiatives. However, the American Brain Tumor Association can be listed by name as a recipient of proceeds. The use of the ABTA name or logo for a third-party fundraiser/event does not constitute an endorsement by the ABTA of any product, service, organization, or individual.

Sale and distribution of other’s products: It is the policy of the ABTA that our endorsement be restricted to ABTA-sponsored or partnered events and initiatives. If you wish to include the American Brain Tumor Association as the recipient of your project’s proceeds, we may be listed by name as such.

At this time, the ABTA is unable to post informal crowdsourcing sites as we currently do not have the resources to verify each request. We also rely on donors in order to support the ABTA’s long-standing mission to advance the understanding and treatment of brain tumors, and therefore, would be a conflict to fundraise for others. If you would like to inquire about getting involved with the ABTA and more formal fundraising efforts that support brain tumor research and educational programs, please do not hesitate to contact us at 866-659-1030.
