We never give, sell or rent our mailing lists.

We appreciate your trust in us. Regardless of whether you contact us by phone, e-mail, or register at our web site, your name will not be shared with others outside of ABTA and our authorized agents. Exceptions to this policy include your approval or request to share your information, legal processes, or when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect you or our rights. This includes, but is not limited to, mailing addresses, telephone or fax numbers, and e-mail addresses.

From time to time, we may become aware of information or services that may be of interest to you (such as a new support group or a brain tumor meeting in your area). In those circumstances, we will mail the information to you. We will do not give, sell, or rent mailing labels to anyone.

Requests for information sent through our web site are mailed from the ABTA office.

We collect an Internet Protocol (IP) address from all visitors to our Site.

An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our Site, analyze trends, track users' movement, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for us to improve the site, and deliver customized, personalized content. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Our web site may use cookies to enhance your experience while using our Site.

Cookies are pieces of information that some Web sites transfer to the computer that is browsing that Web site and are used for record-keeping purposes at many Web sites. We use your information to send updates about brain tumor research and Association activities, donation information, and notification of brain tumor-related information that may be of interest to you. If at any time you choose not to receive these mailings, please call us at 800-886-2282. We will promptly respond to your request. Instructions for stopping e-mail notices are included within each of our messages. Registered users of our web site are able to opt-out of these mailings at the time they register, and can change that choice online at any time.

Donations made at our web site using our online Donation Form and other information transmitted through our website are secure.

All information provided to the American Brain Tumor Association is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL is a proven coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to us. We also protect account information by placing it on a secure portion of our Site that is only accessible by certain qualified employees of the American Brain Tumor Association. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.

The electronic messages you receive from us may include ìTell-A-Friendî options.

If a user elects to use our referral service for informing a friend about our Site, we ask them for the friend's name and e-mail address. The American Brain Tumor Association will automatically send the friend a one-time e-mail inviting them to visit the Site. We store this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time e-mail.

Do not send personal information via e-mail.

"E-mail" by its very nature is not secure. Please do not send us any personal information in your e-mail that you would be uncomfortable sharing with others. E-mail is easily intercepted, and a copy of your messages may be stored on the computer you are writing from.

To correct, update, or verify your contact information, or if you wish to stop receiving information from ABTA , please call us at (800) 886-2282. We will promptly honor your request.

About the links and resources at our site.

Several sections of our site link to other places on the Internet. We believe the information or services at these sites are of significant interest to brain tumor families or the neuro-oncology community. If you have concerns about their privacy policies or questions about their security, please contact those providers directly. We do not assume responsibility for the practices or content of any web site which links to, or from, our site.

We do not accept banner advertisements at our site.

ABTA does not accept paid advertising. However, unrestricted educational grants in support of our web site or sponsorship of ABTA events is important. These enable us to earmark the majority of ABTA funds for brain tumor research. Grantors and event sponsors will be clearly labeled as such, and their acknowledgment may be accompanied by a logo linked back to their web site. Please note that grantors and sponsors do not have the ability to influence ABTA content.

Regarding the Use of Our Site By Children

We encourage our young visitors to spend time online supervised by a parent or guardian.

Our site is intended for adults. A children's section, ABTA Kids,is clearly marked for children. That section of our site does not give children a way to share personal information about themselves.

Because you can visit our site without disclosing any personal information, we do not know when a child is viewing our site. Like any web site, we offer e-mail ability into our office and links to other sites. We encourage parents to speak with their children about the personal information they share online and privacy issues involving use of the Internet.

Children serving as Youth Advisors require parental consent to share information with us.

The children's section of our web site was developed with the help of several children interested in brain tumors. Information about this Youth Advisor program was sent to the parents in writing, and required parental consent for participation.

Children completing a Connections coupon require parental consent to participate in that program.

Our Connections pan-pal program matches people of similar interests by exchanging information about themselves with others. The "coupon" for joining Connections appears in the general section of our web site. Those under the age of 18 must have parental permission to participate.
