When will I be able to return to school and sports? After a brain operation, you need to heal completely (including rehealing the bone of your skull) before returning to sports. This is just as if you break your arm or leg - the bone needs time to heal. Your doctor will tell you when you are healed well enough to return to sports. After surgery, you might notice that you get tired more quickly than you used to. This is normal. You'll need time to regain your strength and energy. It is usually about 2 to 4 weeks before you and your doctor agree that you can start back to school. It may take more time before you feel well enough to stay in school a whole day, or have the energy for other activities. You body will heal at its own pace, so just be patient and give it time. If radiation, or chemotherapy is started soon after surgery, it may be longer before you can start back to school. Your surgeon will be checking you to make sure you are ready to go.
