Volunteers are the heartbeat of the American Brain Tumor Association and we thank you deeply for your time and commitment to our cause. It is because of our valuable volunteers nationwide that the ABTA is able to advance our mission. Below is a variety of suggested volunteer activities:
Volunteer at an ABTA Event
Our Breakthrough for Brain Tumors 5K Run & Walks are run by our amazing volunteers! From set up to clean up, our volunteers help this event run smoothly and we couldn't do it without them. Check out the Events section of our website for a full range of information on events happening across the country that could use a helping hand.
Organize Your Own Event
In addition to raising funds, events also create awareness about ABTA and the services we can provide. There are many types of events you can organize or participate in to benefit ABTA programs. Anything from a small activity to a large event creates awareness, raises critical funds, and makes new friends for the ABTA. Click here to learn more about hosting a fundraising event.
Educating people about the many forms of brain tumors is an important part of the ABTA mission. Throughout the year, friends of ABTA help patients and families learn about the educational and resource information ABTA can provide. Some volunteers distribute ABTA booklets and pamphlets to their local libraries, hospitals, clinics, doctors' offices, and other appropriate sites. Other volunteers agree to submit press releases to their community newspapers or web sites from which they receive news announcements.
