Susan Fischer's Meningioma Story

July 23, 2015 - Dallas, Texas

My name is Susan Fischer. In July of 2008 I was having headaches and dizzy spells. I consulted a neurologist. He did an MRI "just in case". He found a Meningioma in the posterior frontal lobe region. He suggested I just watch it. He told me that I would know I needed to take action when I had motor skill issues or incontinence. I then consulted a Neurosurgeon for a second opinion. He concurred that we should just watch it. I was to see him annually for an MRI and appointment. In May 2013 I was told my meningioma had doubled in size and it was suggested that I consult a Radiation Oncologist to discuss gamma knife. Gamma knife was performed in July 2013. My first follow up appointment in March of 2014 showed no growth. My next follow up appointment in March of 2015 showed no growth and some shrinkage! It appears the gamma knife is working. It has been a long road of recovery from gamma knife. I have had extreme fatigue but no more headaches or dizzy spells. Thanks for listening to my story!
