My hero, my mother, was diagnosed with a glioblastoma in August of 2013. Days after had a surgical procedure to remove what they could. Given the location, they were not successful at removing the entire tumor. Shortly after this, we found ourselves at MD Anderson for chemo and radiation treatments. After those we're complete in November, she has been advised to take her chemo for five consecutive days of each month for a year. She chose to do this at home to be more comfortable and around friends and family for support. I can tell this has been a trying time on her and our family. My mother is the greatest woman I know. She is so smart, kind, intelligent, and has always placed others before herself. Though the prognosis may not be in her favor, I continue to have faith for a bright future.
