Glen's Story
My name is Glen and I am a 49 year survivor of a rare inoperable brain tumor.
I was diagnosed 7 years ago with an inoperable brain tumor. Before that, I was a travel agent for 12 years until I started getting ill in January 2002. I was diagnosed in March 2002 and found out that I have had a brain tumor since birth. WOW!! I have been told that I am a miracle, inspiration and a HERO to thousands!
I stopped working for 6 years, volunteered at a local hospital and went back to school. I now speak at colleges and other schools about my survival. I wake up every day like it is a new day of my life. I really enjoy life and teach many disabled people to keep going. No matter how sick I get, I bounce right back up.
After I was diagnosed, I bought a therapy kitten that is pure black and is now 7 years old...BOO BOO KITTY. Her sister came to me 5 months later and is black and white....MEW MEW KITTY. For 7 years now, they have watched me through my sickness and seizures. Both of them know how to check my pulse and wake me up out of seizure by biting me, licking me or pouncing on me. BOO BOO kitty checks my pulse with her paw and then kneads on my chest like she is doing CPR and then goes back to my neck to check my pulse. She does this for 15 minutes when she sees that I am not feeling well.
I moved to Chicago in October to be closer to my support group that has the same tumor I have. I am an ambassador of the hhugs.com group and plan to go around the world to meet more survivors as soon as I can.
