I'm Maddy and I'm 15 years old. February of 2012 my dad suddenly had seizures which lead to him being diagnosed with a grade 3 anaplastic astosytoma brain tumor. He was in the hospital for quite some time before they actually figured out what was wrong with him. They couldn't operate on the tumor at the time he was diagnosed because it was too spread out and complicated. To make it less complicated he went through 6 weeks of radiation and chemo. Later he went through several more months of chemo. After all that the doctors were finally able to remove some of the tumor in January 2013. Now he is going in for radio surgery on the tumor to try and remove the rest with laser beams. Since my dad was first diagnosed he hasn't had anymore seizures and is doing pretty well all things considered. We recently went on a trip to Hawaii and we spend lots of time together with our family. We are hoping the radio surgery will keep the cancer from spreading any further. I think it's important to be aware of this disease and help raise money for reaserch. Thankfully with the American Brain Tumor Assosiation you can do just that by getting involved in many different ways!
