We invite you to join us Friday and Saturday, July 10 & 11th, in the Chicago area, for the American Brain Tumor Association’s 9th Biennial Patient, Family, and Survivor meeting.

By popular request, we will be returning to the Marriott’s Lincolnshire Resort in Lincolnshire, Illinois, located about 25 minutes northwest of Chicago’s O’Hare International airport.  The resort provides a beautiful, relaxing environment for sharing, learning, and spending a long weekend away from your daily schedule.

Secure your hotel room now by calling the Marriott directly at 847-634-0100. Tell the reservationist you will be attending the American Brain Tumor Association meeting to obtain the rate of $99.00 per night, plus tax, for up to 4 people in the room. To book online, go to Marriott's Linconshire Resort and select your dates. Note - the $99 room rate begins July 8.

This rate is a great opportunity to share a room with family or friends, while taking advantage of all the resort has to offer. The  indoor and outdoor pools, a hot tub, walking paths, golf, tennis, the renowned Marriott’s Lincolnshire Theater, and many area restaurants make this resort a perfect  get-away spot.

A 5-10 minute cab ride takes you to the Buffalo Grove train station, with access into downtown Chicago.  Enjoy the city’s many museums, stroll the Chicago lakefront or Magnificent Mile, and indulge (just a bit) at one of the countless casual eateries and world-class restaurants.

Meeting registration will open in May. To receive registration information as soon as it posts, send a request to info@abta.org.  Please note that scholarships to help offset registration fees are available, and are provided through the generosity of Genentech. For scholarship details, call us at 800-886-2282; ask for social work.

The meeting begins at noon Friday with an optional, introductory presentation for those newly diagnosed. The afternoon general session will update you as to the latest brain tumor treatments and  trends, the coming new world of personalized medicine, and up-to-the-minute research findings.

Join us Friday evening to meet others living with, and surviving, this disease.

Saturday morning, following a complimentary continental breakfast, a multi-disciplinary panel of physicians will discuss pre-selected cases from their own institutions in a Mock Tumor Board meeting.  Lunch will be provided; feel free to stroll the grounds and find a quiet corner in which to enjoy it. Or, make new friends over lunch.

Saturday afternoon features tumor-specific workshops focused on the treatment of glioblastoma/anaplastic astrocytoma,  oligodendroglioma/oligoastrocytoma,  low grade gliomas, benign brain tumors, or pediatric brain tumors. These workshops are followed by session on complementary and alternative medicine, insurance, caregiver support, nutrition, stress management, spirituality, and more.

And we hope that, before leaving, that you will share a few moments with your new friends at a closing reception in the Picnic Grove tent.

If there is any way we can be of help as you plan this experience, please call us at 800-886-2282. We look forward to seeing both old friends, and making new!
