Harald Sontheimer, PhD, is Professor of Neurobiology, Cell Biology, Physilogy & Biophysics; Director, Cellular & Molecular Biology Graduate Program; Director, UAB Center for Glial Biology in Medicine, at University of Alabama, Birmingham, AL. He received his Ph.D. in cell biology and biophysics from the University of Heidelberg. He received postdoctoral training at Yale University, School of Medicine. His research interests include neurodegeneration and neurodegenerative disorders, CNS cancer biology and treatment, ion channels and synaptic function, and neurodevelopment amd developmental disabilities.
