Basic Research Fellowship Program
The Basic Research Fellowship Grants are two-year, $100,000 grants supporting new and early career scientists entering the field of brain tumor research. The experience provides an opportunity in which young, bright, motivated investigators learn from motivating mentors. Discovery Grant Program
Discovery Grants are one-year, $50,000 grants for high-risk, high-impact projects deemed to have the potential to change current diagnostic or treatment paradigms for adult and pediatric brain tumor care. Investigators from sciences outside traditional biology fields encouraged to apply. The 2014 ABTA Discovery Grant LOI Application Guide will be posted here late summer 2013, when the next grant cycle opens.
Translational Grant Program
Translational Grants are one-year, $75,000 grants to researchers working to transition research from the laboratory into actual patient treatment and care. These grants often support the collection of the preclinical data researchers need to apply for major funding from other sources. Medical Student Summer Fellowship Program
The Medical Student Summer Fellowships are $3,000 stipends grants to current medical students wishing to spend a summer conducting brain tumor research with esteemed scientist-mentors. The intent of this program is to motivate talented medical students to pursue a career in neuro-oncology research. We are now accepting applications for the 2013 Medical Student Summer Fellowship program. To access the 2013 ABTA Medical Student Summer Fellowship Application Guide, click here. The application submission deadline, including all supporting documents and letters is Monday, March 11, 2013, 3pm EST/ 2pm CST/ 12pm PST.
Collaborative Research
ABTA is jointly funding feasibility research, quality of life and clinical studies with several organizations. These include a partnership with the Oncology Nursing Society, American Association of Neurological Surgeons/Congress of Neurological Surgeons Joint Section on Tumors which supports clinical research, two therapeutic treatment clinical trials through a public-private partnership with the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and an international research outreach fellowship through a partnership with EMD Serono and the Society for Neuro-oncology.
