Des Plaines, Ill. (Dec. 30, 2008) – William R. Fehrman, 36, has joined the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) as its new director of development.
Prior to joining ABTA, Fehrman was director of development – major gifts at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Previously, he worked as assistant director, corporate and foundation relations, at Loyola University Chicago. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in philanthropic studies from DePaul University.
“We are very excited to have Bill on our team,” said ABTA Executive Director Elizabeth M. Wilson. “He brings to the position not only an impressive track record in nonprofit fundraising, but also a strong philosophical commitment to strategic philanthropy that I know will complement the Association’s mission to advance brain tumor research and patient services.”
Bill and his wife, Tamara, live in Elk Grove Village with their young son and daughter.
Founded in Chicago in 1973, the ABTA was the first national nonprofit organization dedicated solely to promoting brain tumor research and providing information and support to brain tumor patients and their families. In 2008, ABTA awarded more than $2.6 million to brain tumor researchers, and provided more than 1.3 million resources and services to patients, family members, and health care professionals.
