Run/Walk kicks off Brain Tumor Awareness Month on May 7

May 5, 2016

The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) will offer an interactive “journey through the brain” experience with a larger-than-life inflatable brain exhibit at the BT5K Michigan Breakthrough for Brain Tumors Run & Walk.  This event kicks off Brain Tumor Awareness Month on May 7, 2016 at Kensington Metropark.

“We’re excited to bring this hands-on, educational experience to our BT5K event series, where people can walk through a realistic replica of the brain to learn more about brain tumors,” said Chris K. Swope Cholewa, chief advancement officer, American Brain Tumor Association. “We are thrilled to be here with our growing 5K event that will help raise funds for promising brain tumor research and essential support services during an empowering month of education and awareness.”

The BT5K Michigan Run/Walk is one of the ABTA’s signature fundraising events that brings communities together to raise vital funds for promising brain tumor research and essential education and support services for patients, caregivers and their families. More than 11,000 are expected to participate in eight cities coast to coast.

Runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels are invited to participate in this family-friendly event beginning at 9:00 a.m. Kensington Metropark in Milford, MI 48380. The inflatable brain exhibit stands 16 feet high, 10 feet long, and is open free-of-charge to Michigan residents. Tours will offer a first-hand look inside the brain where you can learn more about brain tumors, brain anatomy and understand the inner workings of the most complex organ in the body.
