American Brain Tumor Association’s Breakthrough for Brain Tumors 5K Run/Walk to be held in Columbus on June 3rd

Chicago, IL, 4-17-17 – The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) 5K run and walk will be in Columbus on June 3, 2017. Runner and walkers of all ages and fitness levels are invited to participate in this family-friendly event beginning at 9:00 a.m. at McFerson Commons Park; 2018 West Street. All proceeds will go to support brain tumor research and support educational programs for patients, caregivers, and families affected by brain tumors.

The ABTA will also offer an interactive “journey through the brain” experience with a larger-than-life inflatable brain exhibit. The brain exhibit is 16 feet high, 10 feet long, and open, free-of-charge. Tours will offer a first-hand look inside the brain where anyone can learn more about the brain anatomy, brain tumors, and understand the inner workings of the most complex organ in the body.

There are nearly 700,000 people living with a primary brain or central nervous system tumors and by the end of 2017, nearly 79,000 new diagnoses are expected in the United States. The BT5K Run/Walk events are the ABTA’s signature fundraising events that brings communities together to raise vital funds for promising brain tumor research and essential education and support services for patients, caregivers and their families. Currently, there are 9,958 participants in nine cities coast to coast.


Founded in 1973, the American Brain Tumor Association was first only national patient advocacy organization committed to funding brain tumor research and providing education and information for people of all tumor types and all ages.
