Events & Meetings

Volunteer Fundraising Events

These fundraising events occur in every corner of the country and are organized by families, friends, brain tumor survivors, and/or brain tumor patients. Proceeds benefit the programs of the American Brain Tumor Association. We can assist event organizers throughout the entire process from concept through planning, including event day. If you would like assistance organizing your ABTA fundraising event, e-mail events@abta.org or call 800-886-1281. You can also check this list for upcoming events in your area. Participants, as well as committee members, are always welcome!

ABTA Events

In addition to Volunteer Events, the American Brain Tumor Association hosts its own fundraising events each year. The Brain Tumor Path to Progress 5K Run/Walk is held in the Spring and raises money for research, while the Fall events – Brain Games and our Path to Progress marathon team of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon funds our research and patient service programs. These events are planned by committees who include ABTA board and staff members and local volunteers. If you are interested in joining an event committee, contact info@abta.org.

Patient Meetings

Two or three times each year, ABTA hosts Sharing Hope Meetings for Patients/Families/Survivors in various cities across the country. The intent is to bring regional experts together with the brain tumor community, outside of the clinical setting. Medical professionals may present state-of-the-art treatment information, coping tips, caregiver guidelines, and an abundance of other important facts that those affected by brain tumors want to know. In addition, there are networking opportunities between patients, caregivers, and the professionals. The information exchange works both ways. Time and again the doctors tell us they learn as much from the patients as the patients tell us they learn from the professionals.

You will also find brain tumor related patient meetings hosted by other organizations on this calendar.

Professional Meetings

These meeting announcements, hosted by professional associations around the globe, inform neuro-oncology professionals about opportunities to learn about the latest advances, exchange information with colleagues, and possibly to present their laboratory and clinical findings to peers. For posting consideration, e-mail your announcement to info@abta.org.
