NATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR RARE DISORDERS (NORD) URGES CONGRESS TO ELIMINATE LIFETIME INSURANCE CAPS
The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD), of which the American Brain Tumor Association is a member, is asking its member organizations and their constituents to contact their Congressional representatives to urge the immediate elimination of ALL lifetime insurance caps in any proposed healthcare reform legislation. While all of the bills elminate lifetime caps, in some proposals the provision will be delayed and in others there is no requirement for existing plans. NORD is advocating for the immediate elimination of lifetime caps in both new and existing plans in all insurance markets. Contact your U.S. Congressional Representative.
ABTA JOINS PATIENTS, PATIENT ADVOCACY GROUPS IN URGING CONGRESS TO PRESERVE ACCESS TO DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING
Patients and leading patient advocates from across the country – in partnership with the American Brain Tumor Association, Black Women’s Health Imperative, Colon Cancer Alliance, Lung Cancer Alliance and Society for Women’s Health Research – gathered today at the U.S. Capitol to call on Congress to reject proposed deep and arbitrary reimbursement cuts to imaging services that would devastate patient access to life-saving diagnostics, particularly in rural communities throughout America. On Wednesday, July 29th, the groups submitted a joint letter to the Senate Finance and House Tri-Committees urging Members to adopt legislation that preserves access to diagnostic imaging. ACT NOW - RESTORE FUNDING FOR ADULT BRAIN TUMOR CLINICAL TRIALS. Join the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) in urging Congress to restore National Cancer Institute (NCI) funding for Phase I and II adult brain tumor clinical trials. The NCI has decided to slash funding for the Adult Brain Tumor Consortium (ABTC), which funds several clinical trials, by 50 percent next year. Such trials provide brain tumor patients with access to new and advanced therapies, while fostering future treatment and care discoveries.
