Our Charity Ratings

The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) has received the highest ratings and recognitions from the nation's leading charity watchdog organizations: The American Institute of Philanthropy, the Better Business Bureau, Charity Navigator, and Independent Charities of America. Charity watchdogs are independent organizations that use various methods to evaluate the financial health and effectiveness of nonprofit organizations.

  • The American Institute of Philanthropy (AIP) recognizes ABTA as a "Top Rated Charity," giving the organization a grade of "A-" for fiscal management practices. Less than 20 percent of the more than 500 nonprofit organizations reviewed by AIP each year receive a grade of B+ or higher.

  • The ABTA received Better Business Bureau (BBB) accreditation after meeting the organization's 20 standards for "Charity Accountability." The ABTA also participates in BBB's "Charity Seal Program." 

  • The ABTA exceeds or meets industry standards, according to Charity Navigator, and performs as well as or better than most charities in its Cause.

  • Independent Charities of America (ICA) awarded ABTA the Best in America Seal, a distinction given to organizations that meet the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness. According to the ICA, fewer than 5 percent of charitable organizations in the U.S. meet or exceed the organization's rigorous standards.


In addition, ABTA was recently awarded a Distinction Award from eHealthcare Leadership Awards. The eHealthcare Leadership Awards program was developed and first presented eight years ago by eHealthcare Strategy & Trends, a leading Internet resource published by Health Care Communications. ABTA was selected from more than 1,100 entries.
